Terms of Use

A clear understanding of Nomi, our service, and the little details that matter.

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of Nomi, a food diary and general wellness app operated by Proxa Limited ("Nomi", "we", or "us"). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms do not take away consumer, privacy, or other rights that applicable law does not allow us to limit.

For the iOS application, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also governs the license to install and use the app: Apple’s Standard EULA. These Nomi terms address our service and do not replace Apple's Standard EULA or the mandatory terms of your agreement with Apple. Apple handles App Store purchases under its own applicable terms.

2. General wellness, estimates, and food scores

Nomi is for adults aged 18 or older and is intended for general wellness, self-recording, and motivation. It is not a medical service, medical device, diagnostic tool, or substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.

Photo recognition, food names, portion estimates, calories, nutrients, food tiers, scores, explanations, calorie goals, BMI categories, and weight timelines may be incomplete, inconsistent, or wrong. A photograph cannot reliably reveal every ingredient, cooking method, portion weight, allergen, or nutrient. AI may produce plausible but incorrect results. Review the results and correct your records when needed. Use product labels, measured portions, and appropriate professional guidance when accuracy matters.

Nomi's 0–100 scores and S+, S, A, B, C, D, and F tiers are our AI-generated assessments of general food quality. They are not clinically validated health measurements, official food-safety grades, regulatory certifications, or objective measures of your health. A daily score averages the available rated meal entries for that day; unrated entries are excluded. Changing a portion does not automatically change the food's quality rating. These scores do not establish whether your overall diet meets your individual needs.

Do not use Nomi to identify allergens, determine whether food is safe, calculate medicine or insulin doses, diagnose a condition, or manage a medical emergency. The app does not account for all circumstances, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, eating disorders, medical conditions, or individual nutritional requirements. Seek qualified advice before making changes that could affect your health. Nomi does not promise weight change, improved health, or any particular result. A timeline is an estimate or illustration, not a prediction or recommended rate of change.

3. Your account and records

Provide accurate account information and protect your sign-in credentials. You are responsible for activity you authorize and for the material you upload. Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not impersonate another person or share content that you have no right to use.

Features may require an account, connectivity, permissions, or a subscription. You can decline camera or photo access, but related features may then be unavailable. Synchronization may be delayed or fail. Keep independent copies of any information you cannot afford to lose.

4. AI analysis and privacy

AI scanning and rating involve sending relevant food photos, descriptions, and/or recorded nutrition to our AI service provider, OpenAI, through our backend. The Privacy Policy explains these transfers, storage, and your choices. Permission to access your camera or photo library is distinct from permission to send content to an AI provider. Do not upload information about another person without an appropriate basis to do so.

5. Groups and shared content

Your private meal records are not automatically posted to group feeds. When you join a group, your community profile and membership are visible to others as described in the Privacy Policy. Your daily average food score and corresponding tier can appear on the leaderboard, including scores from meals you have not shared. The leaderboard does not reveal those meals' names, photos, or nutrition details.

When you share a food post, its photo, nutrition, tier, and your caption become visible to the group's members. A shared food post is a snapshot and may not change when you later edit your private meal record. Anyone who can see content may copy or screenshot it. Invite links can be forwarded; share private-group invites only with people you intend to invite. Leaving a group removes your membership but does not automatically remove your previously shared posts.

You keep your rights in your content. You give us a non-exclusive license to store, process, reproduce, and display it only as needed to operate the features you use, provide support, maintain security, and comply with law. This does not give us a general right to sell your content or use it in advertising.

Do not post unlawful material, harassment, threats, hate, sexual exploitation, another person's private information without authorization, infringement, scams, or dangerous health instructions. Do not use the service to promote self-harm, disordered eating, or abusive comparisons. Contact support to report a concern, identifying the group and post where possible. We may restrict access or remove content where reasonably necessary to address violations, safety issues, or legal obligations. We do not promise that all content has been reviewed before it appears.

6. Subscriptions, cancellation, and refunds

The purchase screen shows the applicable product, billing period, price, and any offer before you confirm. Prices and availability may vary by region. Apple processes App Store payments; we do not receive your full payment-card details.

A subscription renews automatically unless canceled through your Apple Account subscription settings before the applicable renewal deadline. Manage or cancel it in iPhone Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting Nomi, signing out, leaving a group, or requesting account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancellation ordinarily stops future renewal and retains access until the paid period ends, unless Apple or applicable law provides otherwise.

Refund requests for Apple purchases are handled through Apple at Report a Problem, subject to Apple's process and your applicable rights. Any trial, introductory offer, or pricing change is governed by the terms displayed by Apple when offered. We do not guarantee refund approval. Restore purchases using the purchasing Apple Account and the Nomi account to which the subscription is linked.

7. Acceptable use and availability

Do not bypass access controls, scrape private information, interfere with the service, distribute malicious code, or misuse another account's subscription. Our software, designs, and branding remain ours or our licensors', subject to rights expressly granted to you.

We may update or discontinue features and apply reasonable usage limits. Where a material change affects paid access, we will provide any notice or remedy required by applicable law. We may suspend an account for serious misuse or security reasons and, when practical and appropriate, explain the reason and provide a way to contact us.

8. Responsibility and mandatory rights

We take reasonable care in operating the service. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not warrant that AI output is accurate, that every feature will always be available, or that use will achieve a particular outcome. You remain responsible for reviewing estimates before relying on them.

Any exclusion or limitation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where exclusion is prohibited, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing restricts non-waivable consumer remedies. These terms are not a waiver of our data-protection duties.

9. Ending use, changes, and contact

You may stop using Nomi at any time. Contact us to request account or data deletion using the process in the Privacy Policy. Subscription cancellation is separate. Obligations that by their nature need to continue, such as outstanding payment, lawful retention, and applicable rights in shared content, continue only as necessary.

We will publish updated terms with their effective date and provide notice of material changes where required. Changes do not retroactively remove rights you already have. Mandatory law and consumer protections in your place of residence continue to apply.
